January 24, 2011 – (Woonsocket, RI) – The Plastics Group of America (TPG), a leading supplier and compounder of thermoplastic resins based in Woonsocket, RI, will be celebrating its 38th anniversary in business this month. As in years past, the company’s success remains a testament to both the exceptional quality of its products and the vision of its management team.
Bob Lebeaux started the company in 1973 – back then, it was simply a one-man operation that focused on buying and reselling plastic scrap. Gradually, he expanded the business, adding people and production capabilities – today, The Plastics Group is now a state-of-the-art, ISO-registered plastics company with 30+ employees and a production facility located in Rhode Island. For the past three+ decades, Bob and his company have continued to grow and evolve, allowing them to successfully meet the numerous challenges they’ve faced in the rapidly changing plastics industry.
As always, Bob attributes the company’s continued success to a strong commitment to customer service. On the wall in his office, there is a plaque that succinctly summarizes TPG’s corporate philosophy:
“Our customers are the most important people in this office. They are not dependent on us – we are dependent on them. Our customers are not an interruption of our work – they are the reason for it. We are not doing them a favor by serving them – they are doing us a favor by giving the opportunity to do so. Our customers are not outsiders to our business – they are part of it. Our customers are not someone to argue with – nobody ever won an argument with a customer. Our customers are people who bring us their wants. It is our job to fill them profitably – to them and to ourselves.”
Bob proudly states “This has been our approach since day one, and it continues to define our efforts today. We communicate with our customers on a regular basis, receiving crucial input which enables us to be pro-active in our pricing while continually implementing product and program improvements. From the quality of our products to the flexibility of our manufacturing capabilities to timeliness of our delivery, we are always working to exceed our customer’s expectations.”
While recognizing its customers’ needs, TPG is equally attentive to respecting its workers’ safety. The Plastics Group recently earned the prestigious OSHA Sharp Award for the 14th consecutive year. Executive Vice President, Michael Rosenthal, added “the program recognizes small- and medium-sized employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system. Acceptance of a company’s worksite into SHARP from OSHA is an achievement of status that singles a company out among its business peers as a model for worksite safety and health. The Plastics Group has also been an ISO-Certified company since 1996 – the stringent quality systems that we have in place enable us to continually supply our customers with singular products at competitive prices.”
As its 38th year in business progresses, the Plastics Group of America will continue to focus on providing its customers with exceptional products complemented by equally exceptional service. It is a formula for success that has served the company well since its inception – and one which they hope will continue to serve them well in the years to come.
